Join us for our ZooBOO Make-a-Mythical Creature Contest!

ZooBOO is one of the most important (and fun!) fundraisers of the year for your Erie Zoo. We are always looking for new ways to decorate and make our Zoo a scary (but not TOO scary) place for families to enjoy. 

This year we are looking to transform Monkey Island into a folklore escape! We'd like you to help us by making your own mythical creature, who will cast away their worries on the island! There will be  prizes for the top three mythical creatures; which could include gift cards, animal art, and more!

Interested in participating? The contest is open to individuals, families, schools, and businesses, so essentially everyone! Please read the guidelines below carefully and apply at the bottom of the page. 

Guidelines

1. Mythical creatures can be made out of any appropriate materials, but everything must be able to withstand the weather. The event runs October 17th - October 30th and your creature will be outside the entire time. You must provide all materials for the display. Please NO real pumpkins, perishable materials, or anything electric.
2. You must providea stake, stand, or way of keeping your creature upright for the duration of the event.
3. Creatures must be dropped off at the Erie Zoo September 30th - October 4th between 8am-4pm (weekdays only) at the Erie Zoo Office(brick building located at the top of the hill).
4. If you would like your creature back, please indicate by checking the box on the application and picking it up on October 31st or November 1st between 10am-4pm. Please note, we are not responsible for any damages that may happen during the event. Any creatures left will be used by or disposed by the Zoo at our discretion.
5. The Zoo reserves the right to eliminate or alter any inappropriate exhibits. Please remember this is a kid-friendly event so no violent, gory, scary or political affiliations will be allowed.
6. Participants are welcome to supply a sign identifying their organization or group. Signs could be no larger than 2ft W x 1ft H. All signs must be weather proof.
7. The deadline for entering the contest is September 20th by 5pm. You may apply online, via email to [email protected], or by dropping off the form at the Erie Zoo Office Monday- Friday 8am to 4:30pm.
